Debbie is a good friend of mine who asked me to remix her closet because she felt she was outdated and wanted some newer pieces to give her some variety in her style. She openly admitted how she doubted I would get 20+ outfits out of her closet and figured I would just be creating a shopping list for her. And I openly admitted I was nervous because I knew Debbie likes the more conservative/casual style. Probably the complete opposite of what I would choose even when doing a closet remix. But with her interests in mind, I accepted the challenge!
Debbie's everyday look is mainly shorts, tank top, and flip flops. When I walked into her closet, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of dresses and skirts she owned. By the end of the remix, she was pleasantly surprised that we came up with 30+ outfits and her shopping list was very short. My favorite part, we didn't even use her shorts (which I did create a shopping list and made sure to add them) but the fact that Debbie was more comfortable in dresses and skirts than wearing shorts! Just goes to show you can do anything in comfort and pull it all together in style.
This is a strapless maxi dress in which Debbie felt more comfortable with her shoulders being covered. We added a cardigan (she only wore with work slacks), a jacket from a two piece set, and a her favorite tank so she can wear it more often.
A dress Debbie thought was outdated and is actually very much in style. We added some tops over the dress and a belt to change it up.
Again, dresses Debbie hardly wears and just added cardigans or jackets for a more professional style or even to wear running errands.
The floral skirt is actually a borrowed dress from a friend in which we added tanks over it. Sorry Lin, if you're reading this, Debbie is keeping your dress!
Putting a suit jacket over a tank or a dress creates a professional look for any occasion.
Adding a lace tank top underneath a low cut dress helped Debbie feel more comfortable.
Playing with tops over dresses, underneath, tucking tops of dresses in to make it a skirt.
Very similar tops, but again it's adding a variety to your wardrobe and playing with outfits.
Thanks Debbie! I had a lot of fun and know you will be looking super cute next time I bump into you at the kadena food court ;)
