After listening (I want to exaggerate ACTIVELY listening) in church yesterday, I decided to make a mission for myself. Since I've started this (ACTIVE) journey, the mission is simple, to be a follower of Christ. Yet, I have no guidelines to go about my goal or means to get there. So as I mentioned in my previous blog, I plan to read the Bible everyday. That's a start.
The next step is to ACTIVELY listen. I used to go to church everyday when I was younger. That's all I could tell you. I went to church, I looked at the cute babies crawling around their parents, I noticed some great dresses the women wore to church, and focused on my stomach growling and if my parents were going to let us pick the restaurant for brunch afterwards. Am I describing someone you know, possibly you? I was embarrassed if anyone would ask me about the Bible stories or verses because I had no clue. As an adult, I realize there is so much more there. There is another way to live and might I say a loving, fulfilled life at that!
Next, I need to ask questions when I don't understand. That's ok. We don't have to know everything. Use the resources and the tools provided for us to research what we don't know. How else do you learn? If you don't ask or seek you will never find what you're looking for.
Lastly, be involved! Get involved with a Christian community. Volunteer at your church, join a bible study, or start your own, reach out to someone and share the love you have found in Jesus Christ. What's your mission? Make it simple. One step at a time. One day at a time. He is with you every step of the way.
